WIDE - To the imaginary scenes of passing through Paris at dawn holding croissants in butter soaked paper bags and enjoying espresso on an italian piazza - then “Naturally grown on Formentera” is not a far fetched slogan for massivan’s new album WIDE. Created in two year’s time on a balearic island, WIDE with its 17 tracks definitely succeeds in rousing the audience’s emotions, and is the second pop-album by the Spaniard-by-choice massivan.
To realise his ideas, Ivan Pezzini surrounded himself by an entire band, consisting of Nicolas Fiszman (a Belgian guitar and bass virtuoso), Philippe Decock (another great belgian jazz pianist) and his father Mirco Pezzini (a violinist who looks back on a 35 years long history in the opera of Zürich). Furthermore, one will find the tenor saxophone sounds by Miguel “Fisherman” Bosch and an acoustic Spanish guitar by Juan Morilla. The vocal part is again sung by the native Bea Luna and the Züricher Olson, who both took part in songwriting on this album.

Stylistically massivan is switching to and from pop and jazz, acoustic-chill and by all means experimental, almost evil sounds. Even earworms aren’t missed on this album: songs like “One Of Those Days” or “Toi et Moi” as well as the Diana Ross cover “Now That You’re Gone” represent the lighter part of this album, while other tracks fit more into clubsurroundings or at least into lounges and afterpartys.
Just because of this variety, WIDE will be found in the musicstores not only for one season.
